A comedian served up a hilarious guide to friend chicken. The funnyman Matt Mitchell knows the South, all things southern, including fried chicken, and is here to help. Watch the short but hysterical clip to learn what is and isnt considered fried chicken in the southern part of the United States.
Today, reaching a consensus or agreement on any subject, big or small, is essentially impossible. People are incredibly divided on nearly every subject and topic. Someone could point out and say that the sky is blue a universally agreed-upon fact and then youd likely encounter an individual who would swear the sky is red. Often, it feels like many people enjoy being disagreeable, like being contrarian brings them some kind of joy.
No matter how divided we may be as a nation, one thing, one activity, is universally loved by all Americans: eating. Youd be hard-pressed to find an American who will pass up a free meal. Food brings us together; many relationships begin with breaking bread with someone. Thats why first dates often involve going out to dinner.
However, as much as Americans love food and consuming it, there is some confusion about fried chicken and what does and does not pass for fried chicken. Some people say this is fried chicken, while others may say that this is fried chicken. Thankfully, Matt, a southerner, is here to clear everything up for us and finally say what chicken is, once and for all.
Chicken fingers aint fried chicken, Matt begins his lecture on the dish beloved by many.
Yes, it is chicken, that is fried, he adds. But the name fried chicken in the South is reserved exclusively for fried chicken thats still got the bone in it. Ok, if you invite a southerner over to your house right now and tell them you got fried chicken, and we show up and we see a bag of Chick-fil-A, were still going to eat it. But just know we were expecting something like Popeyes.
He ends the video with hilarious advice to remember and consider when it comes to fried chicken.
If it confuses you, just remember: If that thing aint got a built-in grip, then buddy, youre eating a chicken strip.
1 Corinthians 10:31 So then, if it is a question of food or drink, or any other thing, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
