Ah, yes, Baltimore. The largest city in Maryland and yet it often gets overshadowed by its close neighbor Washington, DC. But believe me, Baltimore is a city ready to welcome you with open arms. The city is essentially divided into nine districts, but you most-likely will be staying overnight and exploring (by day) The Inner Harbor, Fells Point and downtown.

Come to Baltimore for some of the best and freshest seafood on the east coast. You can fly into BWI airport or Reagan (DCA) or Dulles. Baltimore is also easily accessible by train on the Northeast Corridor. Penn Station is conveniently located right downtown. After you freshen up a bit, put on your walking shoes and explore.

You could take in a MLB game at Camden Yards (where the Orioles play) or explore the museums. Baltimore possesses a vibrant arts scene with the largest free arts festival in the US (Artscape) occurring annually in July, a renowned arts museum American Visionary Arts Museum that is dedicated to outsider art, and the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins.

Families

They don’t necessarily market Baltimore as a “kid-friendly” place. However, I believe there is enough to do to keep the tykes happy.

Peak Season

Peak season in Baltimore is Summer. Shoulder Season is Spring and Fall and Low Season is Winter.

Duration

Depending on your activity level, I suggest an extended weekend on your first visit.

Lodging Options

Sagamore Pendry Hotel, Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Hyatt Regency Inner Harbor
