Presidential Trump

This is Mark Davis from 660 AM The Answer in Dallas-Ft Worth for Townhall.com.

It was something to behold.  We’ve seen many Donald Trump speeches, but never anything quite like his address to a Joint Session of Congress.

It had a State of the Union feel, but with more people paying attention.  There was suspense—would this be campaign-rally Trump filled with self-praise? Inaugural Trump with daunting assessments of the crises we face?  What we got was an uplifting, unifying Trump.

From his very first words—a rebuke against hate—through themes of American jobs, borders and restoration of our global stature, it was definitely Trump’s agenda, but presented in a welcoming way that left skeptics and even critics asking, “Where has this guy been?”

When he paid tribute to the widow of fallen SEAL Ryan Owens, he brought a nation together. We all knew the address to Congress would come from President Trump; what we know now is how effective “Presidential Trump” can be.

I’m Mark Davis.

Food For The Poor

I knew that a trip to Guatemala to see and serve the people helped by Food For The Poor Inc. would be a life-changer, and was it ever. The messages I bring to the show are now wrapped in the memories of these amazing people who find not just survival but joy, when they get the kind of help you can provide through Food for the Poor. So amid my radio messages about our 2017 effort, I'm posting some pics and videos to show you what Lisa, Ethan and I saw on our journey. Your help at 660amtheanswer.com (click the Give Life banner) or 855-916-HOPE is what keeps programs like this alive.

There are no government programs waiting down the street to help these people; there is no safety net funded by taxpayers. Food for the Poor does not use U.S. government funds, preferring the complete freedom of private donations. So here we are, with a chance to give families food, water, hope and a shot at a fruitful life.
Just $50 feeds a child for a year and funds water projects for a community for life. Whatever you have, I am grateful, Food for the Poor is grateful-- but the greatest thanks come from the people you see here, whom I have met and fed and shared prayer with.
So there's something I want to do for some of you. If you can part with $2500-- and I know that's some serious coin-- I'll give the choice we've given in past campaigns: come co-host the 9 AM hour of the show, or we'll do lunch anywhere you choose in DFW. If you give at that level, notify producer Ronda Moreland ([email protected]), who will verify and check the calendar to set you up for whichever choice you make.
But look, if you have 200, or 100, or 10, you will become part of what I have now witnessed. It touched us deeply because I've now seen what our efforts do. Thank you so much for doing what Christ describes in Matthew 25:40 as we give to the neediest among us.

Enough Sideshows, Let's Have a Debate About the Presidency

When was the last time you saw a healthy stretch of media coverage about actual issues pertaining to the presidency? When was the last week that featured detailed national conversations about the issues Donald Trump rode to the Republican nomination?

Right Now, There Are Only Two Kinds of Conservatives

The subdivisions of conservatism contain many corridors for channeling a love of liberty, smaller government and rule of law. Fiscal, social, constitutional, national security and immigration passions provide a useful scorecard for assessing the breadth of those seeking to be called conservative.
