“Back through the years, I go wonderin' once again, back to the seasons of my youth
I recall a box of rags that someone gave us and how my momma put the rags to use
There were rags of many colors, every piece was small, and I didn't have a coat"

The young woman singing in the video is Kayla Slone and she is from West Virginia. While this video was filmed, she was working at Walmart and was able to surprise shoppers with a delightful treat – her wonderful voice! And she sounds just like Dolly Parton!

"And it was way down in the fall, Momma sewed the rags together, sewin' every piece with love
She made my coat of many colors that I was so proud of”

Many people shared their thoughts online about Kayla’s talented singing voice.

“This girl needs to make it! She has a natural singing voice and it's perfect,” one person wrote on YouTube after watching the video. “I would buy her cd if she got the chance to put some out there!”

“I would love to hear her and Dolly duet together. Beautiful voice,” another person commented online.

The song ‘Coat of Many Colors’ was released by Dolly Parton and was the title song for her Coat of Many Colors album. The song ended up reaching #4 on the U.S. country singles charts.

‘Coat of Many Colors’ talks about how Dolly’s mother stitched together a coat for her out of rags given to their family. Dolly was able to write the song about her one-of-a-kind coat in a day, and her lyrics shared about how the special coat gave her determination and wrapped her with confidence in the riches of a mother’s love.

We hope you enjoyed watching this video of Kayla Slone singing the song ‘Coat of Many Colors’ today!
